Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 23, 2026
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that contractors provide directly, that is generated while using the service, and that is received from service providers who help operate Margn. This may include:
- Contractor account information, such as name, email address, phone number, company information, authentication details, and account settings.
- Customer information entered by contractors, including customer names, phone numbers, email addresses, saved addresses, and job addresses.
- Job records, including photos, voice recordings, voice transcripts, notes, quotes, change orders, payment milestones, invoices, PDFs, typed signatures, approval decisions, and related approval metadata.
- Location information when enabled or requested, including job addresses, coordinates associated with job records, and approximate location during customer approval.
- SMS communication records related to approval links, invoice links, opt-out handling, and delivery status.
- Usage, device, and log information, such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, feature usage, diagnostics, and security logs.
- Communications with Margn, including support requests, beta feedback, email messages, and other information voluntarily provided.
2. How We Use Information
Margn uses information to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, secure, and improve the service.
- Create and preserve job documentation, change order records, approvals, invoice records, PDFs, and related contractor files.
- Support contractor communications with customers, including SMS approval workflows where enabled.
- Respond to support requests, troubleshoot issues, and communicate product updates, security notices, or policy changes.
- Develop and improve features, including voice transcription, quality assurance, analytics, abuse prevention, and security monitoring.
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce terms, resolve disputes, and protect the rights, safety, and property of Margn, users, customers, and others.
3. Contractor Job and Customer Data
Contractors enter customer and job data into Margn so they can run their business and keep job records connected. Margn uses that information to host, process, secure, back up, and provide the service.
Contractors are responsible for having the rights and permissions necessary to upload customer information, job-site photos, location data, communications, and other records into Margn.
4. Photos, Audio, Location, and Approval Records
Margn is designed to preserve documentation that may be important for invoices, scope questions, warranty conversations, insurance matters, or other business records. Photos, audio notes, voice transcripts, text notes, location metadata, timestamps, approvals, typed signatures, and related records may be stored with the job.
Location features may use GPS, address lookup, and mapping data to associate records with a job site. During customer approval, Margn may request approximate location to help document where the approval occurred. Margn does not continuously track customers through the approval page. Users should only capture and upload photos, audio, or location records where they have permission and where doing so is lawful.
5. Data Retention
Margn retains information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain business records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, and support the contractor's documented job records.
Specific retention periods and cancellation-related record access are still being finalized. Contractors should not rely on Margn as the only place they keep legally or financially important business records.
Backup copies and security logs may persist for a limited period after deletion due to technical, legal, or security requirements.
6. Third-Party Services
Margn uses third-party service providers to operate and improve the service. These providers may process information on Margn's behalf under their own terms, privacy commitments, and security practices. Providers may include:
- Supabase for application data storage, authentication, and related backend infrastructure.
- Twilio for SMS delivery, text-message workflows, and customer approval communications.
- Google Maps for address lookup, mapping, geocoding, and location-related services.
- OpenAI for voice-note transcription when that feature is used.
- Hosting, analytics, security, logging, and operational providers used to run, monitor, protect, and improve the service.
- Payment providers only when contractor subscription billing is integrated and active.
7. How We Share Information
Margn may share information with service providers who help deliver the product, with users authorized by the contractor's business, with customers when contractors send documentation or approval requests, and where required for legal, security, compliance, or business-transfer purposes.
Text message opt-in data and consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Customers may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to any message, and Margn will honor that request.
8. Security
Margn uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service, cloud platform, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users are responsible for protecting account credentials, managing authorized access, and promptly reporting suspected unauthorized use.
9. User Rights and Choices
Depending on location and applicable law, users may have rights to request access, correction, export, deletion, restriction, or objection related to personal information. Contractors may also request deletion of account information and certain job records, subject to legal, security, billing, backup, and business-record limitations.
To make a privacy request, contact Margn at hello@findmargn.com. Margn may need to verify identity and account authority before fulfilling a request.
10. Children
Margn is intended for business use by adults and is not directed to children under 13. Margn does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
11. Changes to This Policy
Margn may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the service or by email when appropriate.
